Linda Shore-Lesserson

Dr. Linda Shore-Lesserson is Professor of Anesthesiology Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine and director of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology in the Northwell Health System in New York. Dr. Shore-Lesserson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honorary society. She also received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She was an anesthesiology resident and spent a specialty year in cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Anesthesiology, and National Board of Echocardiography.

Dr. Shore-Lesserson is a clinical and an academic cardiac anesthesiologist who is the Immediate Past President President of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA). The SCA is an international society of 4000 members whose focus is education and research for physicians and for the public in areas related to cardiovascular care of surgical and procedural cardiac patients. Dr. Shore-Lesserson has also served as Chair of the Scientific Program committee for the SCA and has served on its Board of Directors. She is also previous Chair of the Advanced Perioperative Echocardiography Examination Writing Committee, and served on the National Board of Echocardiography for 6 years. She is involved with other medical cardiovascular disciplines as the SCA liason to the American Heart Association Surgery and Anesthesia Council (CVSA). She is an active member of the CVSA Council and has served on many Council committees. Her dedication to the AHA is evidenced by her many contributions as a speaker and a Program planner for “Sessions”, the annual AHA meeting. Dr. Shore-Lesserson is also a member of the oversight committee for Sessions, the CSSP, which coordinates the entire meeting and integrates all the different council activities. Within Anesthesiology, Dr. Shore-Lesserson was the Chairperson for the Cardiovascular Track for the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists from 2007-2011. Currently, she is the chair of the Committee on Blood Management of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and sits on the scientific program committee and meeting oversight committee for the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists PGA Annual Meeting. She is currently working with the STS and Perfusion societies on an interdisciplinary project “Best Practices in Perfusion Management”, and has served on the Intraoperative Council of the American Society of Echocardiography.

In her editorial activities, she served as a member of the Associate Editorial Board for Anesthesia and Analgesia until 2010 and she continues to review for the journal. She serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia having served as Section Editor of the Case Conference Section and Literature Review sections of this journal in the past.

Research interests lie in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis as it relates to cardiovascular disease. Research grants have been received from medical industry sources and a philanthropic organization. The results of her research have been published in high impact peer reviewed journals. She lectures frequently at national and international scientific meetings having accomplished more than 100 visiting professorships and invited lectures.
