My clinical position is Director of Thoracic Anesthesia and I’m particularly proud to be Program Director of a thriving Fellowship in Thoracic Anesthesia I started 8 years ago. A major focus of my career has been to create an arrhythmia prevention program in a tertiary cancer center by bringing thoracic surgeons, cardiologists and anesthesiologists together to enforce algorithm based risk assessment, initiation of antiarrhythmic prevention therapy for patients at high risk for postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF), expanding telemetry monitoring outside of the ICU and educating a generation of thoracic surgical colleagues and trainees on the importance of guideline driven anticoagulation therapy. On a national and international level, I’m particularly proud to have represented my institution as an invited member of the 2014 American Association of Thoracic Surgeons Taskforce for the prevention and management of POAF for thoracic surgical procedures.
